Weekly Services

We hold Morning Worship on Sundays from 10.30am. These are led by our Minister and a variety of local preachers. Our style of worship is therefore variable but there is always a relaxed, friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
Alongside the service, we hold our Sunday Club for children and young people (tots to teens) although they share the start of our worship before going to their own activities.
Tea, coffee and soft drinks are served at the back of church after each service.
We hold a short, reflective Communion Service on Tuesdays from 10.30am. These are typically led by Rev Andrew Parker.
Monthly & Occasional Services

Holy Communion is included as part of our Morning Worship Service on the first Sunday of the month.
All are welcome to receive the bread and wine or receive a blessing.

Café-style service in the Main Hall from 6pm typically on the second Sunday of the month.

A meditative service with simple Taizé chants, periods of prayerful quiet and readings. The service has an ecumenical flavour and all are welcome.
From 6pm, often on the fourth Sunday of the month.
Special Services

The Covenant Service, a very significant service in the life of the Methodist Church, is when we renew our covenant with God. The service, which takes place on the first Sunday of the year, is set within the context of God’s readiness to enfold us in generous love, not dependent on our deserving. Our response, also in love, springs with penitent joy from thankful recognition of God’s grace.

Services we share with the young members of our church in March, October and December.

A service in mid-May at the beginning of Christian Aid Week

A service to celebrate Trafalgar Sunday with the Buxton Sea Cadets held on the closest Sunday to 21 October.

A service in remembrance of all those who died at war and those serving today held on the closest Sunday to 11 November.

A special, evening service in early December when we remember and give thanks for loved ones who have passed away, whether they died recently or many years ago. The service lasts about 45 minutes and includes carols, readings and prayers. There is also the reading of a ‘Role of Remembrance’ containing the names of those we have come to remember and opportunity for everyone to light a candle in their memory.
Seasonal Services

After this service on Good Friday, we join with Churches Together in Buxton for a Good Friday Walk of Witness.

On the morning of Easter Sunday, from 8am, many members of our congregation gather at local landmark, Solomon’s Temple, for a Communion Service.

A Morning Worship Service when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.
At Easter, The Methodist Church collects an Easter Offering which goes to the World Mission Fund and partner churches. Envelopes for donations are available during the service.

A service at the beginning of October to celebrate the coming harvest.

Our annual Carol Service takes place in mid-December and includes an ‘impromptu nativity’. Come dressed as your favourite nativity character and join in the story!

A service from 5pm on Christmas Eve.

A Morning Worship Service when we celebrate the birth of Christ.
