Room Hire

Our church has four rooms which are available for hire. Each have their own tea- and coffee-making facilities. They are suitable for meetings, training, concerts, children’s parties (no Halloween parties please) and exercise groups. We are also a popular venue during the annual Buxton Festival Fringe.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building (subject to terms of use) and rooms can be laid out to your requirements by our caretakers using our large number of available tables and chairs.

The church is conveniently located on the Market Place in Higher Buxton with adjacent parking and good access to the public transport network. See below for more information. 

Three of the four rooms have level access, hearing loops and access to disabled toilet facilities. Baby-changing facilities are also available.

Rooms

Main Room: this room has level access and a capacity of up to 100. It has a hearing loop, projector screen, upright piano and blackout. It is close to the large downstairs kitchen where drinks may be made. It has level access to toilets including disabled and baby changing facilities. This room is suitable for larger meetings, dancing, children’s parties (no Halloween parties please).

Lower Room: has a capacity up to 40 and has level access by arrangement – otherwise five steps from ground level. The room can be use as one room or partitioned in two. Access to toilets including disabled and baby changing facilities. Included in room is a kitchenette, hearing loop and blackout and electric piano. 

Upper Room: this has a capacity of up to 40 and includes a kitchenette. Access is via stairs only. Tables and chairs are available in the room and there is an adjacent toilet. 

Main Church Area: this has a capacity of up to 200 and has level access. It is a popular venue for recitals, concerts and large public meetings.There is a screen in the church and the chairs and church furniture are movable. Also includes:

  • Raised chancel (stage) 8.2m x 5.5m
  • Grand piano 
  • Microphones plus loop system

There are additional hire costs as follows:

  • £25 per booking for use of the kitchen (cooking hot food)
  • £7.50 per booking for use of the microwave, toaster, kettle etc
  • £31.50 per booking for use of the grand piano in the Main Church Area
  • £88/hr for the whole building (reduced to £61/hr after two hours)

Availability

The hiring period is Monday to Saturday from 8am to 10pm  (excluding Bank Holidays).

How To Find Us

By car: the church is just off the main road (A515) which runs through the centre of Higher Buxton. There is limited, time-restricted parking in nearby streets and a small Pay & Display car park immediately opposite the front of the church. There are also a small number of spaces down the sides of the church.

By train: we are a 10 minute walk from Buxton Station which receives hourly services from Manchester Piccadily (half-hourly during peak times). Walk from the station into the centre of town and follow Terrace Road up to Higher Buxton. The church is across the Market Place on the right just passed Sainsbury’s. 

By bus: most bus services stop on the Market Place. Looking south towards the High Street, away from Lower Buxton, the church is to the right.
