As of September 2019, we are part of the ‘High Peak Partnership’ Circuit which includes Methodist churches in Fairfield, Harpur Hill, Flagg, Monyash, Hollinsclough, Earl Sterndale, Dove Holes, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Disley, Fernilee, Hayfield and Low Leighton and Whaley Bridge Uniting Church. Find out more about the circuit partnership here.

We are also part of Churches Together in Buxton.

We are a Fairtrade church and seek to use Fairtrade products whenever possible, particularly at our weekly café. Each year, we organise events to support the Fairtrade organisation and continue raising awareness of the work they carry out. We also sell Kilombero rice from Malawi. Purchasing this rice from small scale farmers enables them to pay for their children to attend school.

We are an All We Can partner church. All We Can is the Methodist international development and emergency relief organisation. Focusing on those in greatest need, it is inspired by Christian principles, and is an integral part of the Methodist family. As a partner church, we pledge to raise money for All We Can projects and learn about their work being done with some of the world’s poorest communities. Since becoming a partner church in 2017, we have learnt more about communities in Zimbabwe and Malawi and the projects that make a real difference to people’s lives.

We are also a Christian Aid church and organise the annual door-to-door collections during Christian Aid week and fundraising events throughout the year.

The eight toilets at Buxton Methodist Church are twinned with toilets around the world as part of the Toilet Twinning initiative. This aims to help bring clean water and safe sanitation to the world’s poorest people by linking our toilets with a latrine in Africa or Asia. Billions of people do not have somewhere safe and hygienic to go to the toilet (WHO/Unicef) and this initiative aims to raise money to provide more communities with latrines and clean water.
